Solid Timber Flooring
Solid hardwood floors come in a wide range of dimensions and grades, with each plank made of solid wood and milled from a single piece of timber. Solid hardwood floors were originally used for structural purposes, being installed perpendicular to the wooden support beams of a building. Modern construction techniques now rarely use wood building frames and solid hardwood floors are used almost exclusively for their appearance.
For flooring, solid wood has many limitations due to the natural characteristics of wood. Expansion and contraction of wood from moisture and temperature fluctuation puts many dimensional restrictions on solid wood floors. Typically, 130m wide and 19m thick boards are the largest that can be manufactured from solid wood without compromising the structure of the flooring (some manufacturers produce wider boards using proprietary milling techniques). There is, however, no standard size which will perform well in every environment. For contemporary construction techniques, the most significant characteristic of solid wood floors is that they are not recommended to be installed directly over concrete.
Pace Flooring have a selection of solid timber flooring available. At Pace flooring we pride ourselves, on providing the best highest quality products.
This is why we only supply and lay Australian Raw timbers and endeavor to only deal with manufactures that can provide proof of ownership of their products. Pace Flooring is a environmentally aware conscious company.

All Timber comes in variety, of width and thickness for example (85x12), (80x19), (130x19). Whenever Pace flooring is installing raw solid timber via direct stick to concrete. We recommend applying moisture barrier which is compatible to the glue being used. All timber must be climatised inside house before installation begins.
Once Floor is laid, clamped up tightly and nailed into place. It is left for a further few days before it is sanded back and the coating of your choice is applied i.e. polyurethane or water based low – high sheen gloss.
We highly recommend no one to walk on area after a minimum of 48 hours after final coat is applied. Be aware solid timber is a natural product, variation to timber is a natural product variation in colour texture, and gum vein must be expected.
